Regas, Demetra, age 62 born April 18, 1956 in Alepohori, Sparti, Greece passed away on October 29, 2018. Demetra’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her granddaughters, cooking, hosting, and celebrating her Greek heritage with everyone. Her beautiful spirit and kindness will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was a devoted member of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Antonios Kouvelis. Demetra is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jimmy Regas; mother, Ioanna Kouvelis of Greece; daughters, Vickie Smith and Joanna Regas; son-in-law Greg Smith; grandchildren, Brandon, Madison, and Audrianna Smith; brother, John (Mary) Kouvelis; nieces, Joanna, Evangie, and Antonia of Hearst, Ontario, Canada, Constantina, Vaso, and Viki of Greece; brother-in-law, Athanasios (Lena) Regas; sister-in-law, Despina Malliou; nephew, Nick. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 3rd from 10 am – 12 pm at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The funeral service will follow. Father Anthony Stratis will officiate. Interment following the service at Lynnhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church Memorial Fund in memory of Demetra Regas. May her memory be eternal. Condolences may be offered at

Our hearts are truly broken at the loss of our sweet cousin Demetra! Her kind, and beautiful demeanor will always be remembered and the love she showed to the Regases at family weddings and celebrations will stay with us as beautiful memories. Mimi mou, may the prayers of the Theotokos cover you and comfort you and the girls as you begin this process of mourning her loss. Dearest Mimi, Vicki, Joanna and family,

Words cannot express how sorry we feel over the loss of our dear cousin Demetra! We were quite surprised at the news! We will always remember your trips to Minnesota, and will miss your mom’s joyful and exuberant spirit! Her bright and beautiful smile and laughter was contagious! She was a very lovely person and we will never forget her!
