

Eugene “Gene” Howard Huskey, Sr. passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was born October 26, 1924; He was 92. He grew up, was baptized and married at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1942 and fought in World War II. He flew thirty five missions in the European Theatre and volunteered to go to the pacific when the war ended. He came home and married the love of his life, Emma June Tippens. He worked at Alcoa Aluminum Company, City Surveyors and Oak Ridge Before hiring on at Knoxville Police department. He was a lifelong member of the FOP and studied law enforcement at several F.B.I Schools around the South-East. He retired as a Deputy Chief of Police in 1981. He loved Braves Baseball, U.T. Football and Basketball. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a very good man. He was preceded in death by parents Howard and Viola Huskey; wife June; son Gene Jr.; brother, Lloyd “Bubber” and sister, Wanda Love. He is survived by son, David and wife Kaye; grandson Mike and wife Bess; granddaughter Teresa and husband Tim Harper; five great grandchildren: Kayla, Luke and Will Huskey, Madelyn and David Harper. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 11 AM until 12:45 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Drive. A Graveside service will be at 1:00 PM in New Gray Cemetery. Everyone will go in procession to the cemetery from the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
