George William Duggan

George William Duggan passed away on July 22, 2026, at the age of 73, having been born on September 4, 1952, and residing in Knoxville, Tennessee. George will be remembered for a life shaped by discerning taste and a deep appreciation for history and craftsmanship. An antique dealer by trade, he brought patience, knowledge, and care to the objects he handled—seeing in each piece not only its value, but its story. That same reverence for the written word was evident in his passion as a collector of first edition books, a pursuit that reflected a quiet devotion to enduring ideas and the beauty of well-made things.

George also embraced the wider world with steady curiosity and a respect for the places and cultures he encountered. He and Paul were international travellers, sharing many trips abroad and building a tapestry of memories across continents. Among their favorite destinations were Egypt, Greenland, Prague, and the United Kingdom—journeys that spoke to George’s appreciation for both the ancient and the unexpected, the storied and the remote.

He is remembered with respect and gratitude by all who knew him, and his life will be honored in the lasting impressions he leaves behind.

George was preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Mary Duggan; sisters, Ann, Judy and Etta; brother, Chuck Duggan. He is survived by loving husband of 47 years, Paul Duggan; a host of extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29th at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home from 11am to 12pm with funeral service at noon. Rev. Keith Shown officiating. Graveside service immediately following at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
