

George “Porkie” Edward Lane, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Park West Medical Center. He was a resident of Rocky Top and a devoted member of Anchor of Hope Baptist Church.
George was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Bud Lane; his wife of 29 years, Sherry Lane; grandmother, Bonnie Reed; father-in-law, Jerry McCann; son-in-law, Dwight Isabell; bonus son, Josh Norman; and a host of other beloved family members.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Debbie Lane; mother, Glenda Ann Lane; children, Rachel and Jim Keeling, William and Stevie Cashion, Kevin and Nicole Lane, and Ricky and Sandra Lane; and bonus children, Tim Norman, Adam Norman, and Amanda Isabell.
George was a proud grandfather to William, Cheyenne, Jeremiah, Emily, Jacob, April, James, Timmy, MaKayla, Tyler, Peyton, Annabelle, Jackson, Maggie, Dakota, Caius, Silas, Remington, and Aaliyah; and great-grandfather to one special great-grandchild, Attley .
He is also survived by brothers, Mike and Freda Lane, Danny and Susan Lane, and Darin and Janie Lane; sisters, Donna and Joe Harris, and Mary Sue and Tommy Gibson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special aunt, Peggy Cox.
George was the original bass singer for the gospel group Higher Calling and the Midstate Boys. He spent many years coaching football and baseball for his son Ricky’s teams. He loved life, the Lord, and his family deeply, and courageously fought an 11-year battle with cancer.
His faith, strength, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a service to follow at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Darin Lane officiating. Family and friends will meet at New Gray Cemetery on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 1:45 PM for a 2:00 PM graveside service.
