

Mary Gladys Strange is reunited with her daughter Ina in Heaven Friday, October 22, 2010. Gladys, as she was known passed away peacefully in Knoxville at age 88. Gladys was born June 30, 1922 in Strawberry Plains, TN to William Elzia and Clemmie Jane Cloninger. Gladys was preceded in death by her daughter Jane Inagene, her sisters and brothers; Willie, Ana Lee, Sylvia, Hazel, Irene, Della, Lester and Bill and Robert Strange, her husband. She is survived by her sister Belva of Joliett, IL, grandson Rick Estes and his wife Ahnna of Corryton, TN, grandson Nick Estes and his wife Michelle, great grandchildren, Jessica Torres and husband Eddie, Matt Estes, Christie Estes, Justin Estes, Dakalya and Katie and great-great grandchildren, Jessalyn and Zack. Gladys was blessed to have many loving nieces and nephews. Most days Gladys could be found keeping house or working in her yard where she had planted magnificent Azaleas and Dogwood trees. She will be missed by those in her Go Getters class at Second Baptist Church and the friends made in the 30 years she worked at the Standard Knitting Mill. The family especially thanks Gladys’ neice Theresa Walker and Kim Estes for all of their help and caring support. Receiving of friends will be from 1:00pm – 3:00pm Sunday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, with the chapel service to follow at 3pm and internment will follow at Lynnhurst cemetery.
