

Hancock, Harriett P. age 93 of Knoxville, TN passed away Monday, June 14, 2021. She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 45, then attended Maryville College and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1949 where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Harriett was an active alumni of KD, serving as UT Chapter Advisor for many years. She was a teacher in the Knoxville-Knox County School system before retiring in 1988 with over 20 years of dedicated service. Harriett was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church for 74 years and was active in Presbyterian Women. She was a former member of Ossoli Circle, Gateway Garden Club and a volunteer at East Tennessee Historical Center.
Harriett was preceded in death by parents, James and Margaret Haun Perry; sisters, Jane Loveday, Martha Propst, Norma Hannam, Barbara Emmerick; brothers, Bill, Sam and Jimmy Perry; loving husband of 65 years, Donald Hancock.
She is survived by sons, Donald Hancock Jr., and wife, Karen and Tim Hancock and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Brett Hancock and wife, Lee, Jill Hancock, Jennifer Hancock, April Mingle and husband, Tyler; great grandson, Isaac Mingle; many loving nieces, nephews and close friends.
Family will receive friends Sunday, June 20th from 4-6pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service at 6pm. Lyn Oakley to officiate. Reception following services. Graveside Service will take place Monday, June 21st at Lynnhurst Cemetery meeting at the graveside at 10:45am for an 11am service with interment to follow.
