Jim was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. After graduating from West High School, he attended the University of Tennessee and pledged Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Japan. He and his first wife, Joanne, had one son, Leo Anderson of North Carolina. While visiting his brother, Newell, in New Jersey, Jim began working in New York City transporting medicine to hospitals. After working for his company for 25 years, he asked to transfer his job to Knoxville to be with his mother and father for their last years. He joined Trinity United Methodist Church in Lenoir City, TN, and was a member for many years attending Mr. Bob Maroney’s Sunday School Class.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Newell and Jane Anderson; mother, Anne Rochelle Anderson; and recently by his older brother, Newell Anderson, Jr.
He leaves his sister, Rochelle A. Veum of Knoxville; brother, Michael (Florence) Anderson of St. Simons Island, GA; sister, Cathy A. (Doug) Wilhite of Knoxville; and brother, Newell, Jr.’s family Lynne McFarland and Natalie Anderson of Nashville, TN. Also nieces and nephews, Maureen (Jimmy) Grun of Lebanon, TN, Linda Black of Friendsville, TN, Bonnie (Scott) Phillips of Chattanooga, TN, Newell A. (Tasha) Anderson and John Anderson of Nashville, TN, Maggie (Jason) Sorel of Savannah, GA, and Katie Murphy, of Knoxville, TN.
The family is grateful to Trinity UMC for their devotion to Jim with visitation and prayers over the years. Many thanks to Caris Hospice and River Grove Health and Rehab for their excellent care for Jim along with their love and kindness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, at Trinity UMC, Lenoir City, TN from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a memorial service at 1:00 pm at the church with Rev. Barbara Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 W. Adair Dr., Knoxville, TN. Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity UMC, 300 W. 2nd Ave., Lenoir City, TN 37771.
