who passed away after a brief illness on Friday, January 28, 2022. He was retired from sales at Knoxville Wholesale Furniture Company. James was President of The American Bowling Congress from 2002-2003, and was inducted into the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame for bowling in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James B. Bevins, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Perkins Bevins. James is survived by his wife, Jane Rueff Bevins; children, Brian Bevins and wife, Sarah Bevins and Christy Clauss; step-children, Gregory M. (Karen) Mathes, Catherine L. Mathes, Kenneth Mathes, Matthew Justice (Stephanie); grandchildren, Zachary Bevins, Nicolas Bevins, Aly Bevins, Emma Grace Madison, Caroline Clauss; step-grandchildren, Emma Mathes, Michael Mathes, Julia Mathes, John Mathes, Joseph Mathes, Thomas Mathes, Elizabeth Mathes, Zachary Justice and Kinsley Lynn Justice; great grandchild, Turner Hayes. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, January 31 with the funeral service to follow at First Baptist Church Knoxville, 510 West Main Street. Pastor Brent McDougal will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 pm on Tuesday, February 1 for the 1:00 pm graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Drive.
