

James E. “Jimmy” Cox, age 66 of Knoxville, passed away on December 4, 2016. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Cox was a retired Machine Operator with Norfolk Southern Railroad and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde E. and Margaret Chance Cox and a sister, Wilma Pinegar. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sherrill T. Cox; daughter, Kim (Joe) Harmon of Powell; James “Scooter” (Stephanie) Cox of Knoxville; seven grandchildren: Samantha (Chris), Harlee, Kane, Evee, Haley and Gage; one great grandchild Taizha; four brothers, Clyde, John, Larry and Bo Cox of Knoxville, as well as many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service following at 7:00 PM with Rev. Richard Corbin, officiating. Burial will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Lynnhurst Cemetery. Everyone is asked to assemble at the gravesite by 10:45 Am for the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the A Troop 4th Squadron, 12th U.S. Cavalry 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized) Vietnam July 1968-November 1971.
