Jean Gail (Hendren) Hays

Jean Gail Hendren Hays, age 80, went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 22, 2021. Jean was born in Knoxville, TN on January 16, 1941. For several years, she worked for Cummings Engine and was a member of Sweet Adelines both in Knoxville, TN. She was a lifelong member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Rankin and Sarah Lockhart and Marion and Ida Hendren; parents, Elmer and Eva Hendren; stepmother, Reba Coulter Hendren; stepbrother, R.B. Coulter; stepsister, Brenda Braden; husband, Douglas O. Hays; stepdaughter, Barbara Stanley; several aunts and uncles; first cousins, Marion Schultz, Glenna Koenig and E. Kevin Hendren.

She is survived by twelve first cousins; stepdaughters, Gail Cornett and Margie Franks and several step grandchildren. We want to give special mention to cousins, Bobbie Goins and Marian (Judy) Hendren for all the love and care they gave to Jean Gail over the years.

A call of convenience for Jean will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. A graveside service will occur Friday, August 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Old Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918. Condolences may be offered at www.berrylynnhurst.com.
