Quinton, Jean Henry Needham – 87, of Morristown, passed away at The Courtyards Assisted Living in Knoxville on March 27, 2014. Jean was the devoted daughter of the late Clay and Maude Henry of Luttrell. She was preceded in death by husband William Needham, son Gary Needham, husband Robert Quinton, sister Fern Lay and brother J. B. Henry. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by nephews, David Lay (Jennifer) and Jerry Draper (Joan), niece Elaine McKenna (Sam), stepdaughter Robbie Quinton, several grandnieces and grandnephews and many lifelong friends. Jean was a faithful member of Alpha Baptist Church in Morristown. She was an avid bowler who competed in the senior league, an accomplished gardener and a talented seamstress and knitter. She entertained friends and family with her stories of life growing up in Luttrell. One of her favorites was when as a teenager she took over her father’s Union County carrier route to deliver mail. She survived many hardships, in particular the untimely death of her beloved son at age 26, with courage, grace and dignity. She blessed all of us with her generous spirit and infectious laughter.
The family would like to acknowledge and express their gratitude to her special friend Danny Case, his wife Marie and their son Will for their support, comfort and compassion these past years.
Jean’s family and friends also extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at The Courtyards and the Amedisis Hospice staff for their loving care and support.
Family and friends will meet on Monday, March 31, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Alpha Baptist Church, 245 St. Johns Road, Morristown, TN, with Dr. Terry Kirby officiating.
