Born on March 24, 1935, in Oliver Springs (Windrock), Tennessee to Ottie and Leona Patterson, Jimmy lived a life marked by love for others; he loved to give and receive hugs from everyone he met. He was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church. His Christian faith guided his daily life and was evident in the way he loved others, encouraged friends, helped neighbors, and trusted God.
During his life, he was known as a hard worker, retiring from Martin-Marietta in 1994. He was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees (began listening to them on the radio as a child) and found great joy in Tennessee sports (especially football, baseball, basketball & LadyVol basketball and softball). You rarely saw him when he wasn’t wearing ORANGE!
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Ottie and Leona Patterson; brothers, Lonzie and Ottie Jr.; sisters, Virgie, Mary, and Margie; and beloved sister-in-law, Brenda.
He is survived by his precious wife, Willie/Billie (or as he affectionately referred to her as “SweetThang”); two sons, Rodger and Charles Patterson, both of Knoxville; brother, Buford Patterson (Judy), Lake City, FL; nephew and niece, Tim and Carla McGhee, and their daughters, Hannah (Daniel) Vickery and Micah McGhee (all of Powell); and “Great-Greats Loves” - Clay, Noah, Hayes and Deacon; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
