Joel Edward Sowers, age 50, of Corryton, Tennessee passed away at home on Thursday, October 3rd. He was a member of Corryton Church. He was a loving husband and papa that adored and treasured his girls. God blessed his wife and daughters with an amazing, strong man. Joel was an avid fan of all University of Tennessee sports, but he especially loved UT football. Every gameday during football season, he would wake the house by playing Rocky Top. He loved cheering for the Vols. Joel was brilliant and enjoyed learning new hobbies, excelling at anything he tried; learning a foreign language, gardening, playing tennis, making homemade tamales, learning to braid his daughters’ hair, just to name a few. One of his most prized possessions was his 1965 Ford truck, affectionately known as “Slick”. On a sunny day, you would find him washing or restoring Slick. He loved that truck. Joel was the best in so many ways and will never be forgotten by those who love him.
Joel was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Sowers; grandmother, Audrey Buchanan and grandfather, James Edward Sowers.
Survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Lori Sowers; daughters, Lillian Grace and Audrey Ella Sowers; father, Frank Sowers; sisters, Mandy (Shane) Sandberg and Shelly Gann; nieces, Beth Chandler, Bella Smith, Claire and Hazel Kirby; nephew, Jayden Lowery; best friend, John Tallent II; many other friends and family.
