John Ewin Edds

John Ewin Edds, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 in the comfort of his home 7 months into his 93rd year. Preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Mae White Edds. He served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. In 1946 he joined Oak Ridge as a MP. His career progressed to courier and he retired from the Quality Assurance Department for the Department of Energy in 1981. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed driving the bus for an active seniors group on their travels until his health would no longer allow him to travel. He enjoyed many years as an expert fisherman, Snowbird in Florida, traveling with his wife, a rustic farmer and avid gardener. When he was no longer able to carry out the farm duties, he enjoyed sitting on the porch and being the overseer as his family performed the duties. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David Edds; grandchildren and spouses, Daniel and Kristin Edds, Ryan and Miranda Welch, Paul and Kristen Newby; great grandchildren, Everly Edds and Jocelyn Welch. For his grandchildren, he was a source of lessons in life and walking history. Of the great grandchildren, he was heard to say he wanted a houseful; surviving sister, Sue Perry and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special thanks for the Professional Case Management nurses that made it possible for him to remain in his home. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 pm Thursday at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. The graveside service will follow at 3 pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Military Honors. Rev.
