John "Doug" Schaffer

John “Doug” Schaffer was born in Newport News, VA, but longtime resident of Knoxville TN, passed away peacefully at home, on December 31st at the age of 59.

Doug proudly owned and operated his own moving company, “Moves by Doug”. Doug was not only a great father but also husband, son, brother, papaw, uncle and friend to many. Doug had a heart of gold. To know him was to love him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kay Schaffer, father John Schaffer; and stepfather Mike Fontenot.

Doug is survived by his daughter Alexis Schaffer (Maurice); son Alex Schaffer: grandchildren Mykenna, MJ, Merydith, and Aiden; mother Donna Fontenot; siblings David Schaffer (Elizabeth), Deneen Lambert (Ronnie), Rachel Fontenot, David Fontenot (Ashley), Steven Fontenot and Ryan Fontenot and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Friday, January 5th from 6-7pm with funeral service at 7pm at North Acres Baptist Church, 5803 Millertown Pike, Knoxville, TN 37924.
