Slater, John, age 48, of Clinton, passed away on May 18, 2012 at home. He was the Missions Director of Second Baptist Church in Clinton, and traveled around the world sharing the gospel. He was preceded in death by father, William A. Slater; brother, Paul G. Slater; and nephew, Jay A. Slater.
Survived by wife, Marcia Slater; mother, Carolyn Curtis; sons, John Slater and wife Emily of Marion, IN; Paul Slater, US Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune; Curtis Clark of Clinton, TN; daughters, Jennifer Stanley, Jessica Exline and husband Micheal all of Tallahassee, FL; Melissa Slater and Callie Clark both of Clinton, TN; granddaughter, Hailee Stanley of Tallahassee, FL .He is also survived by 5 brothers, Barry Slater, Stephen Slater, Jeff Bodine, Wil Slater, and Joel Slater; 4 sisters, Paula Slater, Judy Bodine, Graceanne Williams,and Evie Weintraub; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm Sunday at Second Baptist Church, Clinton, TN with the funeral service to follow with Pastor Joel Dew and Pastor Terry Bishir officiating. Family and friends will meet at Grandview Memorial Garden Clinton, TN for the interment 11 am Monday.
