Joyce Fay Lay Miller, devoted and much loved wife, mama, and mimi, age 78, suddenly went home to be with Jesus on January 13, 2019. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James E. Miller; beloved daughter, Michelle Miller Clupper and fiancé Chris DeFord; the treasure of her life, grandson, Kevin Clupper; and two grand-pups that she cared for daily, Katie and Roxie, all of Knoxville. She is also survived by cherished cousins, Wayne and Paulette Lay and Shirley Lay Carver also of Knoxville; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jane Lay of Knoxville, and her brother, James Don Lay of Winter Garden, Florida. “Mimi” served others selflessly her entire life. She was a lifetime member of Valley View Baptist Church, who was a natural caretaker and lived a life of service not only to the people she loved, but to all who crossed her path. Mimi sacrificially cared for her family and took impeccable care of her people, her home, and their homes as well. She loved the Lord and showed His love to others by the life she lived. Mimi was her husband’s soul mate, her daughter’s dearest friend and champion, and her grandchild’s biggest fan. The family rejoices that she is now reunited with her parents and brother and thankful they will one day see her again. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 5 – 7 pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. The Funeral Service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Justin Pratt officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at 10:45 am at Greenwood Cemetery for the 11 am Graveside Service. Serving as pallbearers: Kevin Clupper, Chris DeFord, Brandon DeFord, Dameon Howell, John Hudson, and Erby Boles. Condolences may be offered at www.berrylynnhurst.com
