Kathleen Capps, age 100 of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband James H. Capps, an infant daughter Ann Elizabeth, her parents William Andrew Dyer and Annabelle Harris Dyer, her sister Nedra Stephenson and Nedra’s husband Eugene. She is survived by three nieces: Sandra Raynor (Clark) of Stuart, Florida, Debra Austin (Lee) of Blackstone, Virginia and Jean Moon of Crewe, Virginia; a faithful friend Rhonda Vittetoe (Don) who was a great support and brought Kathleen much comfort; along with two great nephews and two great nieces. Kathleen was a graduate of Fort Sanders Hospital Diploma School of Nursing in Knoxville and was an avid supporter of nursing. Kathleen and Jay who worked for GE, found themselves living in Florida, Wyoming, South Carolina and New York before retiring to Knoxville to be near her parents. Kathleen’s love of animals reached its pinnacle when she acquired her own horses. It was then, at the age of 76, she began showing her beloved Tennessee Walking Horse “Tequila Sunrise” and her equally beloved Plantation Pleasure Horse “A Very Special Lady”. She beamed with pride each year that “Lady” won the Model Mare Class at “the celebration” in Shelbyville. Horse lovers all over Tennessee were always amazed that she began this special sport so late in life, enjoyed it so much and performed it so well. She was also a long time member of the Joy Sunday School Class at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. A Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 11:00 am in Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Wallace Memorial Baptist Church or Smoky Mountain Hospice. Please visit www.berrylynnhurst.com to leave condolences for the family.
