

Kenneth Charles Cone, age 80, passed away on May 27, 2026. Born on December 26, 1945, in Tampa, Florida. He grew up in Brandon, Florida and graduated from Brandon High School. While living in Orlando, Florida he attended Rollins College and earned a bachelor’s degree.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Teena Cone; daughters, Heather Petrie (Matt) and Rachel DeAngelis; four grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Jacob, and Theodore; and brother, David Cone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Grace Cone.
Ken retired from Florida Power Corporation/Progress Energy after 35 years of dedicated service, serving as Community Relations & Area Manager for Orange and Seminole Counties. Throughout his career and retirement, Ken remained deeply involved in his community. He was an active member of the JayCees, President of two Rotary Clubs, served as President of the Chamber of Commerce in two counties, and was a valued member of the YMCA Board of Directors and the West Orange Hospital Board.
Ken proudly served in the Florida Army National Guard and also served in the United States Army Reserve. He loved his country and one of his favorite trips was to visit the beaches of Normandy and the cemetery there where so many of our WWII soldiers are buried. When he met or just saw a veteran out and about, Ken never failed to thank them for their service.
In retirement, Ken enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching UT football, and spending treasured time with his family, grandchildren, and friends. He was a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, where he especially enjoyed serving as an usher and greeter on Sunday mornings. Ken was also a Gideon in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Family will receive friends Saturday, May 30th from 2 to 4pm with service following at 4pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home located at 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee. Rev. Kent Williams officiating.
Burial service will be on Wednesday, June 3rd at New Hope Cemetery in Brandon, Florida at 11:00am.
