Lena Eleanor Gregory

Gregory, Lena E- Lena was born on June 27th 1918, and dies suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, February 26th at Fort Sanders hospital. She was a member of Washington Ave Baptist church until it closed after which she became a member of City View Baptist church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years; George W. (boots) Gregory; daughter, Jo Eleanor Wolfe and infant grandson; granddaughter, Rhonda Jackson; great grandson Brandon C. Armstrong and several brothers and sisters. Lena is survived by; daughters, Patsy E. Holt, Nancy C. Turner, and Heather R. Woods and husband Joseph J. Woods; Grandchildren, Robert Loy, Teresa O’Neil, Kim Dyer, Deanine Sams, Chris Holt, Wendy Terry, and Shannon Beets; Great –grandchildren, Lindsey Delmark and husband Chris, Gregory O’Neil, Jennifer O’Neil, Melissa Watson, Derek Vandergriff, Amy Stephens, Lucas Sams, Summer Holt, J.C. Holt, Jackie Holt, Andrea Farrinacchi, and Morgan Terry; Great-great grandchildren; Zachary and Jeremy Woods, Wyatt and Ryan Delmark, Garrett Vandergriff, Fischer Watson, and Alivia Farrinacchi.

Lena was a wonderful, loving, and kind woman. She always had time to help or listen to anyone who needed her. Lena lived every day to exemplify the love of Jesus Christ and it was her desire for all to know him, therefore she devoted her life to teaching others. She was a Sunday school teacher, and when her children were younger, a scout leader as well. She was an artistic person who loved music, and could often be found playing her organ. She loved to write poetry and prayers, and the beauties of her writings represent her true devotion to God and family. She had enough love for all of her family with lots to spare for others. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her but the love and light she emitted will guide her family through this difficult time. If she could have one wish it would be for her family and friends to rejoice for her because she is home again and reunited with the Lord and her husband.

The Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 5-7pm in the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel, a funeral service will follow at 7pm with Pastor David Gregg officiating.
