Leslie Ray Shular passed away on April 21, 2024 peacefully at home at the age of 92. He was born on March 18, 1932 and married Wilma Lee Finchum, the love of his life on August 12, 1951. They were married almost 73 years and were devoted to each other until the end. He and his wife Wilma built two houses together, swinging hammers, pouring concrete, and laying floors side by side. With ambition, imagination and a green thumb, he created an idyllic haven which included a Japanese fish pond with a bridge, a marble patio with an ivy covered marble wall, a running stone creek surrounding a built in swimming pool, and multiple gardens. He was a Jack of all trades and a man of many interests and was always moving quickly. He dabbled in amateur archeology, taxidermy, gardening,herpetology, and was an avid golfer for many years. He mowed his own yard till he was 90 years old. He worked for Union Carbide Y12 as a scheduler for over 35 years. He and his wife Wilma traveled all over the world and went on many adventures together. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Annie Creswell Shular; one son, Michael; two brothers, Lynn and Don Shular; an infant grandson, Adam Shular; and an infant great grandson, Brandon Shular. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma; a son, Gary; four grandchildren, Steven(Sara), Matthew, Emily(David) and Aaron; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Peyton Shular; and two daughters-in-law, Shirley and Eileen. He was a long time member of Powell United Methodist Church where many precious friendships were made. The family would like to thank the caregivers that provided much appreciated extra special care, including Amy, Amanda, Melissa, Lisa and Cheska. The family asks that instead of flowers that donations be given to Powell United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm Thursday with the funeral service to follow at Powell United Methodist Church, 323 West Emory Road, Powell, TN 37849. Rev.
