Linda Maples Bean, age 82, of Knoxville, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, May 15, 2024. She grew up attending Gillespie Avenue Baptist Church before joining Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church. She attended Rule High School, graduated from West High School and was a self-employed house cleaner when her children were young. She retired from All State Insurance Company. Linda was a loving and devoted mother who always put her family first. She dedicated her life to providing unconditional love and support to her children. From the moment she became a grandparent (Nanny), she poured her heart and soul into nurturing and caring for her grandchildren. Her support and unconditional love were a constant source of strength for her three grandsons. Mom loved decorating her home, cooking Sunday meals for her family, gardening, going to garage sales, spending the holidays with her family, and talking on the phone (but we all knew not to call her during her soap operas). She loved going to Hallmark and spending too much money on her lancome wrinkle cream. Preceded in death by her loving “Daddy”, Cecil Maples and mother Lillian Maples; husband, Ralph E. Bean, Jr, and sister, Peggy Irwin. She is survived by her children, Tracy Bean, April Bean, and Lori Bean as well as her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Christopher (Alexandria) Prater, Logan Prater, and Brody Bean; longtime friend, Leesa Taylor, whom mom loved like a daughter; several nieces, best friend, Joan Young; special friends who helped care for mom, Brenda, Marsha, Terry, Carol, and Lisa. Thank you for loving and helping our mom. A special thank you to the nurses and staff on the first floor at NHC skilled Nursing Facility, Amanda, Janice, Caroline, and Mike. You will always hold a special place in our hearts for the love and compassion you showed mom. We know you loved mom for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and for telling it like it is. We are forever grateful for your kindness and dedication and for making mom feel safe and loved. At NHC, mom found a family who treated her with respect and dignity. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 pm Monday, May 20, 2024 at Lynnhurst Cemetery for the 1 pm graveside service. Rev. Don Wilson will officiate.
