Born on February 10, 1941, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Margaret’s life took her to many places, including Knoxville, TN; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; and Polk City, FL. No matter where she lived, she carried with her a quick wit, a love of laughter, and a gift for making those around her feel cared for.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn F. Hammond. Margaret is survived by her children James Hammond (Nancy), Robert Hammond, Cindy Rauhuff (Joe), and Mike Hammond (Doug Poff); her grandchildren Natalie Saldivar (Noe), Jamie Hammond (Nicole), Ashley Hammond, Phoenix Hammond (Kohnor), Tyler Rauhuff, and Trevor Rauhuff; and her great-grandchildren Kali Rauhuff, Teddy Saldivar, and Ophelia Saldivar.
Margaret spent her career in bookkeeping and accounting, bringing diligence and dedication to her work. Outside of work, she embraced life with passions that made her unique — she adored flamingos, filled her home and garden with plants, and loved her pets deeply. She had a sharp sense of humor, often laced with her trademark sarcasm, which will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike.
Above all, Margaret was devoted to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 7:00 PM.Interment will take place at a later date.
