Mary Ruth McMillan, age 80, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2017. She was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly at Claxton. Mrs. McMillan was a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years and later worked with Dr. Ray King. She was preceded in death by husband, William C. McMillan; parents, Clyde and Mary Alice Newberry; brother, Clyde Newberry, Jr.; sister, Nell Beckner. Mrs. McMillan is survived by sons, William C. McMillan and wife Eva, Jeffery E. McMillan and wife Dorothy; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, December 26, 2017 with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the Chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. Pastor Brandon Cookston and Rev. Charles Young officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for the 1PM graveside service.
