
Shoemaker, Mary Vivian, age 78, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2014 at her home. Vivian was born in Chickamauga, Georgia. She attended Chattanooga Valley High School and graduated from University of Georgia with a degree in microbiology. She trained and worked as a medical technologist at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. She moved to Knoxville in 1961 and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in the laboratory for 33 years. Vivian loved horses and owned a Tennessee walker. She and her husband Jake were members of the sports Car Club of America and traveled the world working sports car races. Vivian was a stained glass artist; she liked to paint and was a member of the Art Market Gallery. She is preceded in death by parents Harry and Marie Smith of Soddy, TN. She is survived by her husband Jacob (Jake) Shoemaker; daughter Denise L. Bennett; sister Harriet Howell; cousins Mary Lou Shirley, and Leoma Gilley. The family will receive friends Friday, November 7, 2014 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Lynnhurst Chapel. Please come to remember the good times.
