

Wagner, Mel Thomas, Sr., age 77, of Knoxville, born in Anapolis, Maryland, passed away on May 10, 2014. He was of the Fundamental Baptist Faith and a strong believer in the King James Bible. Husband, father, and grandfather. He was a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 and a veteran of the Korean Conflict with 44 years of active and reserve service. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority as a civil engineering associate with 37 years of service. Mel was a TN licensed Real Estate Broker and a TN licensed general contractor. He was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Virginia Wagner; brothers, Ray, Charles and Wade Wagner; son, Mel Thomas Wagner, Jr. Survivors, wife, Alice of 53 years; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Jennifer Wagner of Knoxville and Joe and Melissa Wagner of Seymour; three grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Danielle, and Rihanna; brothers and sisters-in-law, Moe Jessie and Kim Wagner of Jefferson City and Victor and Pat Wagner of Knoxville; sisters, Anita and Juanita Wagner and Mildred Gore of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Interment will be at 11 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in Lynnhurst Cemetery.
