Midge Marshall Stewart, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, surrounded by family. Throughout her life, her Christian faith never wavered. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She never met a stranger and was a loyal friend to many.
Midge was born in Pruden, Kentucky before moving to Knoxville with her family at a young age. She attended Knoxville High School and was a proud member of the first graduating class at Fulton High School in 1951. Midge created a wonderful home for her family and truly enjoyed preparing tasty meals for her loved ones. She was very patriotic and loved the United States of America. She also loved animals and her pet companions brought her great joy. Midge retired from the University of Tennessee’s Science Alliance Department where she took pride in and was recognized for the quality of her work. She was a longtime member of Smithwood Baptist Church and throughout her life enjoyed traveling to many places, especially the country of Ireland.
Midge was preceeded in death by husband, Otis Marshall and later, by husband Ted Stewart. She is survived by sisters, Barbara Langlois (Buck) and Jean Mulryan; sons, Joel Marshall (Becky) and Barry Marshall (Sandy); daughter, Cheryl Parr (Gordon); grandchildren, Benjamin Duncan, Grant Marshall (Amanda), Adrienne Kiely, Benjamin Marshall (Kay), Anna Hughes (John), Leah Parr (Ronaldo) and Kara Parr; great-grandchildren, Tucker Kiely, Ellie Kiely, Bailey Duncan, Iris Duncan, Lily Duncan, Ruby June Marshall, Jack Hughes, Deacon Marshall and Gray Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. Sincere appreciation is extended to the staffs at the Harmony on the Peninsula in Yorktown, Virginia and Morning Pointe of Powell facilities for supporting Midge in her final years.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, immediately followed by a celebration of Midge’s life at 1:30pm. Persons attending are encouraged to wear green, Midge’s favorite color. Masks are highly recommended for the indoor gatherings.
