Nina J. Bonds, 74 went to be with The Lord on January 20, 2021 at Fort Sanders Medical Center. After a long battle with Lymphoma it was Covid 19 that was more than she could handle. Nina was born on November 26, 1946 in Florence, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Audrey Bonds and sister, Judy DeMoss (Ernest). Nina moved to Nashville when she was 12 where she lived until age 60 when she moved to Knoxville to be closer to family. She will be greatly missed by her only child, Ashley (Holt) Steele of Knoxville, son-in-law, Michael Steele and grandsons, Gavin and Greyson. Also surviving nephews Scott (Jennifer, Promise) McWhirter of Bell Buckle and Troy (Amanda, Chloe) Hunter of Springfield and stepchildren Gerry Holt of Mt. Juliet and Shannon Carter of Springfield. She also leaves behind several cousins, her Aunt Bonnetha Cook of Florence, AL and her long-time best friend Jan Hittle of Nashville. Nina enjoyed line dancing, water aerobics, being at the beach and time with family. She was also a member of St.Lukes UMC. She never met a stranger and had a loving and generous heart. The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to everyone who prayed throughout her cancer battle. She outlived that prognosis by 5 well spent fun loving years! There will be a celebration of life ceremony at a later date and in lieu of flowers she asked that you simply do something nice for a stranger to make this world a better place for all of us left behind.
