Patricia M Potter

Potter, Patricia Marie - age 71, of Knoxville passed away on the afternoon of Friday January 13th, 2012. Pat was diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2011 and battled through the pain and suffering for 3 and 1/2 months at home, until she was admitted to Fort Sanders Hospital. Her battle ended with her last breath 2 weeks later in her hospital room with family present. Pat was born in Knoxville, Tn. on November 20th, 1940. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger Franklin Potter, her mother: Hattie Knight Damewood, her father: Reverend Eugene Knight, sister: Bobbie Jo Larcom, and brothers; Donald Hall and Richard Knight. Pat loved her family first and foremost. She really enjoyed having family parties and cook-outs. She worked for Knox County Schools in Special Ed. Transportation for over 30 years. She attended West Side Baptist for many years and had a very strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She was faithfully married to Roger for 46 years before his passing on June 17th 2010. Pat is survived by: children- Lisa Cruze, Roger Allen Potter ("brother"), Kimberly Thomas and husband Billy, Michael Potter and wife Lori ; grandchildren- Nicole Starcher, Dustin Cruze, Rachel Osborne and husband Wil, Megan Thomas, Jake Potter, and Logan Potter ; great-grandchildren- Austin Deese, Aiden Starcher and Aubrey Thomas; brothers- David Knight and wife Paulette, Dick Brown and wife Carrie, Paul Hall and wife Sis; sister- Janie Burkhart and husband Robert; also, many dear nieces and nephews. Special recognition and thanks to Pat's close friends- Betty Roy and Chlotia Bordes. Pat's friendships were beloved and many. She formed deep friendships over the years and valued them all. Pat also gave a shining example of unconditional love to all her family and was a dependable force in many of her children's lives. She was the "glue" of the family and will be deeply missed by all that knew her. The family and friends will gather at Lynnhurst Greenwood Funeral Home on 1-17-12 at 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm followed by a Chapel Service at 7:30pm. Graveside service will be on 1-18-12 at 11am at Lynnhurst Greenwood Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Burkhart officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Wayne Henry, John Stapleton, Dan Smith, Todd Hensley, Ron McKonkey, David Sullivan, Ricky Whitted, Joe Snyder, Charles Joiner, and John Joiner.
