Patrick M. "Pat" Cummins, age 86, went to his Heavenly Home August 23, 2026. Pat was born in 1940 in Warsaw, Indiana, and was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Fulton High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Maryville College. Pat built a distinguished career with the Knoxville Fire Department with 32 years of service, retiring as a Deputy Fire Chief. Outside the department, he was a beloved and successful coach for the Baby Falcons football team for many years, where he left a lasting impact on the young players he coached.
Pat was a devoted fan of the University of Tennessee VOLS sports and rarely missed a game. He also had a deep passion for restoring classic automobiles, particularly Studebakers and Avantis, and took great pride in his 1963 Studebaker Hawk, which won several car shows over the years. A former Southern Baptist church deacon- he was a current member and deacon of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and was very involved in the Gideon Bible organization.
Pat was preceded in death by his father, William Cummins; mother, Sallie Cummins; alongside his five siblings, Jim Cummins, Billy Ray Cummins, Charles Cummins, Martha Jensen, and Opal McClain; and a granddaughter, Blakely Cummins.
Pat is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Barbara Widby Cummins of Knoxville, TN; his son, Randy Cummins (Kathy) of Louisville, KY; and his son, Alan Cummins of Knoxville, TN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Chase Cummins, Averi Winner (Brian), Rachel Michaels (Mitch), and Ian Cummins; and great-granddaughters, Kaia and Gracie.
Family will receive friends Friday, August 28th from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service at 7pm. Rev. Ande Myers officiating. Graveside service will take place Saturday, August 29th, at Lynnhurst Cemetery, meeting at the graveside at 12:45 pm.
