
Riley, Ray Allan, born December 22, 1955, passed away on Monday, April 4th at Mercy Hospice Center after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church for 47 years. He faithfully served his church as a deacon and in other leadership roles. He was a teacher, coach, and Assistant Principal in Knox County Schools for 32 years. Preceded in death by father, Ralph Akard Riley.
Survived by wife, Kathy Archer Riley, daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Riley Busler and Barry of Mt. Juliet, TN, Jennifer Riley DePew and Lance of Powell, TN; mother and stepfather, JoAnne and Harold Huffaker; twin brother, Rex Akard Riley and wife, Donna; mother-in-law, Mae Archer. He cherished being “Popaw” to granddaughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Busler and special brothers-in-law and sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Donations can be made to Thompson Cancer Center, 1915 White Ave, Knoxville, TN 37916. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and Steve Maples Sunday School Class. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Ibach and staff of Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Mercy Hospice.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 4:30 – 7:30 pm at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. Service to follow at 7:30 pm with Rev. Kent Williams, Rev. Gary Cornelius, and Dr. Mike Boyd officiating.
