

He was a member of West Side Baptist Church. Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was active duty at Ft. Benning, and the 306 Medical Battalion in Knoxville, TN. He served from January 1960 until May 1966, rank E5.
Bob was a graduate of Rule High School. He retired from Frigidaire Company/General Motors, where he was a district service supervisor on appliances and air conditioners.
Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Zelpha Courtney; brother, Alfred Jay Courtney; nephews: Lance and Mark Courtney; and sister-in-law, Sharon Courtney.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jackie Brown Courtney; children: Robert “Bobby” (Eileen) Courtney, Michael “Mike” (Kelly) Courtney, and Cynthia “Cindy” (Victor) Coile; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Cathy) Courtney; and sister, Joyce (Tom) Coffman.
He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. They were always there when needed. Bob was an avid fisherman and a people-person; he truly knew no stranger. This world has lost a wonderful soul, but Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

Family and friends will meet at 12:45 PM for a 1:00 PM graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Rev. Josh Greene officiating.
