Roger Lee Gasnow entered Heaven to be with Jesus on September 11, 2026 surrounded by his Children & Grandchildren who loved him dearly. Roger was well respected as a tractor trailer mechanic for over 50 Years. Raised in a Catholic home and later a member of North Knoxville Baptist Church- Roger loved the Lord and was the epitome of Philippians 2. He constantly demonstrated humility & a servant’s heart in how he lived, loved and cared for others. In times of adversity he always showed love, patience, forgiveness & compassion. He enjoyed wrenching on & restoring his 1973 Plymouth Satellite / Roadrunner he purchased new from his dad Paul, who was a salesman for Cliff Chrysler Plymouth. He never met a person (old or young) he couldn’t have a conversation with. He also could fix anything with a hammer, screwdriver, self ingenuity or what we called “Roger-rigging”! He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to tease, play practical jokes & tell tall tales. Animals loved him & he had an assortment of wildlife that visited him daily at his back door. Most of all our Dad (Poppy) loved spending time with his family. One of the most important things we learned from him was the importance of spending quality time with the people we love & those we come across. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Brewton Gasnow; his parents, Paul Gasnow and Louise Jackson Cohen; his granddaughter, Savannah Grace; nephews, Bobby Ward and Steve Thomas; and his son-in-law, Rodney Lucas. He is survived by his loving family: His children, Lisa Lucas, David (Leslie) Gasnow, Kristen Gasnow and Karen (Adam) Kerley. Grandchildren: Dustin Lucas, Kenda Lucas, Erica (Jacob) Price, Jacob (Elizabeth) Gasnow, Caleb (Sydney) Gasnow, Olivia Gasnow, Kameron Kerley, Kannon Kerley, and Karoline Kerley. Great-grandchildren: Sophia Price, Merrik Price, William Gasnow, John Gasnow, James Gasnow and Kaia Lucas. He is also survived by his loving sister Denise (Wen) Thomas and Lisa (Frank) Kolinsky; And by all of his special nieces and nephews. His special cousins, Greg (Connie) Steen and Johnny Steen, and his many dear friends, Eddie Barnard, Dogget, Victor Sparks, Terry and all his car show friends. We want to thank Dr. Francisco Soto and the wonderful nurses & staff that took such good care of him on 5 South ICU & 8 East at UT Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918, US, on October 24, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others Phillippians 2:3-4
