

Smith, (Rosalia) Ruth, age 77 of Pigeon Forge, TN, passed away Saturday, August 20 with her family by her side. Preceded in death by William & Marion Slagter and sister Betty Dawson. Ruth was originally from Titusville, PA, known affectionately as Tooty Slagter. She was a veteran of The United States Air Force. She was married to Stephen L. Smith, and raised their family in Halls Cross Roads. In 1984, she began a new chapter of her life and moved to Campbell, CA. In 2000, she retired from One Work Place and returned to Pigeon Forge. She was well-recognized since then in the ticket booth of Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre in Gatlinburg. She was an avid bridge player in Sevier County. Everywhere she went Ruth made friends and retained and nurtured those friendships for the rest of her life.
She is survived by her children Bill Smith of Gatlinburg, TN, Diana Willett and Janet Livesay—both of Knoxville, TN; sister Arcania Blystone of Sedona, AZ; grandchildren Hunter Livesay of Knoxville, Rebecca and Christopher Willett of Houston, TX; nieces and nephews Amy Green and Alan Dawson of Santa Fe, NM, Brian Green and wife Anna Lynn of Phoenix, AZ, Jon Campasino of Sedona, AZ, Kristy Solomon and husband Rick of Seymour, TN, Deborah R. Schmidt and husband William of Knoxville, J. Kelly Range and wife Vanessa of Athens, AL, Matthew Range of Knoxville; great-nieces and nephews Laura and Martha Harris of Knoxville, Jason Taylor-Green of New York, NY, Ashley and Jessica Solomon of Seymour, and Angelique and Braden Green of Phoenix, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 5-7 pm in the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at 7pm with Dan Baird officiating. Friends may leave their condolences at www.lynnhurstchapel.com.
