

He is survived by the love of his life, married over 64 years, Nina (Yates) Randles; son Jerry (wife Deidre); daughter Karen (husband Larry); son Brian (wife Connie); and grandchildren Alex (1993-2020), Emily, Ryan (wife Anna), Bizzie, and Major, as well as beloved sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
He served for two years in the United States Army in Korea and then graduated from the University of Tennessee on the GI Bill. He worked faithfully for TVA in economic development before retiring after 30 years. He and his friend Don were regulars at Ramsey’s Cafeteria.
He served for many years as deacon of Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church and helped with the church’s relocation to their current home in Fountain City.
Roy moved to the country with his young wife and three children to try his hand at small farming. He had cows, experimented with gardening techniques, and loved many pets, including Newman, Milo, and lately, Copper.
He loved Jesus, his country, gardening, woodworking, time with his family, and chocolate, which he taught all his grandchildren to love, too.
Visitation is at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Sunday, April 20, 2025 from 5:30-7:00pm with a service following at 7:00. Family and friends gather at the graveside at Berry Lynnhurst Cemetery Monday, April 21, 2025 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church and Tunnel To Towers.
