Rudolph Herman Pletz

Pletz, Rudolph Herman (Rudy), Powell, TN died Friday, February 4, 2011 at Mercy North. Rudy was born in Herman, MO, March 30, 1916 to Ferdinand and Anna Barbara Weller Pletz. He moved to Owensville, MO at an early age. He graduated from Owensville High; attended Westminister College, Fulton, MO for two years, graduated from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana with a BS in Bacteriology and Chemistry. He retired from Union Carbide, Y-12 Plant. He was a faithful member and church treasurer, Inskip Presbyterian and an ordained elder, New Hope Presbyterian Church. He loved singing tenor in the church choir and attending Sunday School. He leaves to mourn and miss, wife Ginny, son, Mark and daughter, Ann Whiteside. His beloved grandchildren, Geoffrey, Leslie, Kelly Pletz and their mother Christy Mock; Leah and Christian Whiteside, their father, David Whiteside. His brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Eva Pletz. ‘“I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow,’ Jeremiah 31-13. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church 1705 Merchant Drive, Knoxville, TN 37912. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery Tuesday February 8, 2011 at 1:45pm for a 2pm interment service with Dr. Brad Palmer officiating. Arrangements by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel.
