

Hauk, Ruth Elaine Byers of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013. She was born in Leeds, Alabama December 8, 1915 and married Milton “Boots” in 1943. Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother known for her abiding Christian faith, quiet Strength, fierce devotion, and love of family.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, keeper of a menagerie of pets, and always ready for an adventure or opportunity to travel. She retired from Hyatt Regency of Knoxville after many years of dedicated service.
Preceded in death by her husband Milton F. Hauk, Sr., parents Eva Mae (Isbel) and Edgar Charles Byers, brother Willard Lawrence Byers, sisters Pauline and Jewel Byers, granddaughter Amanda Ruth Harris, lifelong friend Lucille Henry and Aunt Jessie Henry.
Survivors include devoted daughter Elaine Hauk, sons and daughters in law Stephen B. Hauk and Begie and M. Frederick Hauk, Jr. and Nadine, grandchildren Christopher B. Hauk, Cara M. Hauk, Chelsea A. Hauk Haddad and husband Roger and Laura C. Hauk and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers at Homewood Assisted Living and Brakebill Nursing Home. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Rev. Wyn Bryant and congregation of Spring Place Presbyterian Church for their thoughtful prayers and frequent notes of encouragement over the years.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 5-7pm in the Lynnhurst/Greenwood Chapel. Family and friends will meet Thursday in the Lynnhurst Cemetery at 10:45am for an 11am interment service. Friends may leave their condolences at www.lynnhurstchapel.com
