

SAM THOMAS PROVENZA, 87 of Knoxville, Our Angel, was called home to Heaven . He quietly and peacefully departed this life at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. He was loved immensely, and will forever be missed. He was a dedicated, active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was an active participant of the FISH team for many years. He served in the United States Army during W.W. II and after his honorable discharge, he returned home to Knoxville. Just as his father before him, he took over the family business as part owner of Frank's Place and retired when the store was sold in 1989. He was such a wonderful, humble, charitable christian man. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Provenza, and his mother Josephine Provenza. He is survived by children that loved him, his son, Vincent Provenza, and daughter, JoAnne Tackett, sister, Maryann Provenza, brother, John Provenza, sisters, Vince Vineyard, Martina Taylor, Amelia Stamey,and Rose Vickery, grandchildren that adored him, Keri Tackett, Tiffany Remick, Heather Provenza, Bo Provenza, Chelsey Provenza, Jimmy Provenza, Lynzi Provenza, Ree Provenza, Joey Provenza, Sami Provenza, and Kayte Provenza, and dear friend, Faye O'Bryant., a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends. The family has much appreciation and gratitude for Estelle Taylor R.N. and Denise Bisch for their compassion. The family invites and welcomes all to celebrate his life on Friday, October 1, 2010, at Lynnhurst/Greenwood Chapel, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral Mass service will be held on October 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 West Vine Avenue, Knoxville,TN, with the Reverend Monsignor Xavier Mankel, V.G. officiating. Full military honors will be presented by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard at the internment service that will follow the funeral Mass services at Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Holy Ghost Catholic Church school fund, P. O. Box 3936, Knoxville, TN 37927-3936.
