Shirley Marie Snyder went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on July 6, 1938, Shirley lived in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was deeply devoted to her family and was intentional about encouraging each generation to know and follow Christ. She was a very active member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, where she served with the Acteens and Girls in Action mission programs. She leaves a legacy of love for Jesus and for family.
Shirley was preceded in death by husband, James "J.L." Snyder; parents, Leonard and Mary O'Shell; siblings, Leonard O'Shell, Jr., Dean O'Shell, Bill O'Shell, Wilma Gustin, Fontella "Fonnie" Coker, and Joyce Thompson. She is survived by her sons, Steve (Sharon) Snyder, Jim (Lisa) Snyder, and Alan (Lisa) Snyder; grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Cook, Matthew (Ariel) Snyder; Kayla (T.J.) Whitehead, Kelli (Matt) Fowler, Katie (Mat) Naughton, Chase (Annie) Snyder, Tylor (Heather) Snyder, and Madison (Zach) Cox; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Doris (Jerry) Taylor; brothers-in-law, Bob Thompson and Jack Coker; several nieces, nephews and additional family and friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 5th from 12-2pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service at 2pm. Dr. Jerry Taylor and Rev. Alan Snyder officitating. Graveside service will immediately follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Dr. T.J. Whitehead and Rev. Chase Snyder officiating.
