Shirley Ann Whitaker, age 82, of Maynardville, Tn, went home to be with the LORD on Monday, January 9, 2017. She accepted Jesus Christ in her heart at a young age. Her whole world centered around her six children. She set a wonderful example of what it is to be a loving Momma. She was a dedicated pastor’s wife and supportive of his ministry for many years. She was a devoted and loving mother who is now rejoicing in the presence of the LORD. She was greeted with loving arms by her beloved John who said, “Welcome home MY JEWEL". She was preceded in death by husband of 55 years, John Whitaker and son-in-law, Roy Edwards. Survived by daughter, Kathy Edwards; son, John Whitaker and wife Beverly; daughter, Shannon McDonald and husband Barry; daughter, Kim Cox and husband Robby; daughter, Shelly Lee and husband Roger; daughter, Sherry Cox and husband Tony; 11grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5-7pm at Temple Baptist, Woodrow Drive, followed by the funeral service at 7pm. Pastor Charles Lawson and Pastor Roger Lee officiating. We will meet Thursday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 10am graveside service.
