

Wanda S Hill of Knoxville, TN. Wanda was born November 12, 1934 in Kingsport, TN and lived in many places as her family moved with her father’s time in seminary and leading churches in Georgia and East Tennessee. She was preceded by parents, Rev. Paul Strickler and Georgia V. Strickler; and her husband, J. B. Hill. She lived in Knoxville for almost 50 years, retiring in the early 80s after decades as a social services worker and manager with the state’s Department of Human Services serving those in need in Knox, Blount and Grainger counties. She was a loving mother devoted to helping those that needed it most. In her later years, she enjoyed leading Sunday school classes at City View and spending time with her adult class members, which was an important part of her life. She was instrumental in reuniting J.B., Jay and Cindy with the children from his previous marriage, Jim and Sandy Hill and their families and significant others in 1988. Survivors include son and his wife, Jay and Lorna; daughter, Cindy Hill Hembree; and grandchildren Lisa Hill, Chris Hill and his wife Rachel Bales Hill, Jayna Hembree, Elishia Hembree, all living in Knoxville, except Jayna, who currently lives in Dallas, TX. She also leaves her two extended grandchildren, Vic and Anthony Hill who reside in Toronto, Canada. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00PM at City View Baptist Church, 2311 Fine Avenue, Knoxville, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 1:00PM.
