William N. Duke (Mr. Bill) age 90 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2016, one week after a severe stroke. He was born and raised in Putnam County and was a graduate of Baxter Seminary. He was retired from the Air Force, Navy, and Air National Guard, and later retired from Y-12 at Oak Ridge. He was of the Methodist Faith. Bill was a very cheerful and loving man who cherished his family and friends. His patriotic and generous spirit will be missed by all. Preceded in death by parents, Blanchard and Ruth Burton Duke; brothers, Carl and Reece Duke; sisters, Margaret Jones, Sue Addis, and Peggy Duke; son, Eddy Allen, great-granddaughter, Amanda Grace Lunsford. Survived by devoted wife of 44 years, Betty Duke; daughters, Donna Duke and Cathy Roberts, and special son-in-law, Steve Roberts; grandson, Bill Lunsford and wife Missy, special great-grandson Jacob Lunsford, brothers, Royce and wife Wanda, Sisters, Shirley Smith and husband Tommy, Grace Boyd and husband Grady, Ina Searcy, Lou Randolph and Husband Ray, Brother-in-law, Buddy Carroll; sisters-in-law, Elfrida Duke and Linda Duke, many nieces and nephews and special friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Deacon Wayne Walker officiating.
