My memory of Mi Tia goes way back when we were next door neighbors at La Retama Homes. I was a very young boy and she and my Mother were very young housewives. She and my Mother were very close throughout and up to my Mother's passing 35 years ago. Her husband Mi Tio Chuy and her became our second Parents and Mi Tio's prayers and hers kept our entire Family, now without Parents, focused on our Spiritual road towards Our Saviour Jesus Christ. For that I have always been eternally grateful because most if not all of us Sernas have received Christ in our Hearts as our personal Saviour. Thank you Mi Tia Amabelia and Tio Chuy and your family, our very close cousins, for everything you do for my Serna Family! My prayers are for Tia Amabelia's grand entrance in the presence of The Lord in Heaven, and for everyone of my beloved cousins, Jesse, Delia, David and Norma for strength and Peace in your Hearts!!

“Ay, ‘periquito’ !”, she would often say when she visited my Mom and her nephews/niece........ I don’t know if her loving parakeets, if that is where my nickname came from? She was a loving mother to my ‘primos’, a wonderful wife to my Tio ‘Chuy’, a beautiful grandmother to her grandchildren and a GREAT Tia to all of her ‘sobrinos/sobrinas’!
I will miss you my Tia Mabeli!
