Angelica Ochoa Moraida

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Maria and Guadalupe Ochoa; and her siblings, Jose Maria Ochoa Jr., Delia Ochoa, Humberto Ochoa, Carmela Cavazos, and Ciro Ochoa. She is survived by her siblings, Lupita Thompson, Herlinda Aguilar, Mariana Esparza, and Marina Prado.

Angelica will be reunited with her beloved husband of 60 years, Noe Jr., and her son, Noe III. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Chapa, and her husband, Albert; and their children, Lizette (Travis) Alvarez and AJ Chapa. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Ruby Moraida; her children, Gina and Noe IV (Shiann); and her great-grandchildren, Xavier and Lucah Moraida.

Angelica was considered by many to be a true “badass”—a woman who could do just about anything she set her mind to. She was a true jack-of-all-trades and a remarkable businesswoman.Throughout her life, she wore many hats, including running a lumberyard, working as a traveling hardware saleswomen, an insurance agent, and a realtor/broker. Her last place of employment was Barbee Neuhaus in Weslaco, where she worked until the age of 80 a testament to her incredible work ethic, independence, and unwavering determination. She was never afraid of hard work and took great pride in providing for her family and building a life through determination, perseverance, and faith.

Angelica also made history as the first Hispanic female City Commissioner for the City of La Feria, a position she proudly held for 16 years. She was a long-life parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria and was actively involved in the Schoenstatt Community.

Angelica loved spending time with family and friends. She was an amazing cook and baker, and there was never a bad meal at the Moraida house. She loved welcoming people into her home, preparing delicious meals and desserts, catching up on life, and, of course, sharing a few jokes to make everyone laugh. She leaves behind not only the memories of a life well lived, but also the legacy of a woman who worked hard, loved deeply, laughed often, and always found a way to get things done.

During the last three years of her life, Angelica resided at The Bridges of Mission, where she was lovingly cared for. She participated daily in exercise, bingo, trivia, Mariachi music, and painting activities, and she always made time for her jokes and laughter. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Bridges of Mission and Heavenly Health Care Hospice Services for their love, care, and support.

Special thanks go to the administrators and CNAs at The Bridges of Mission. Her caregivers throughout the years—Elida (Rabbit), Raul, Mary, Lilly, Lizette, Teresita, and Eldy—cared for Angelica as though she were their own mother. The family is especially grateful to Lizette, who watched over Angelica during the last three years of her life and cared for her with tremendous love, compassion, and devotion.

Visitation will be held on September 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed the same evening at 6:30 pm.

A Religious Ceremony will take place at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 502 S Canal St, La Feria, TX 78559, on September 17, 2026, at 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 14166 Business 83, La Feria, TX 78559, on September 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
