Barbara Ann passed away on February 1, 2020 in La Feria, Texas. She slipped away getting ready to feed her kitties and having juice on her patio. She lived very peacefully, happily in the little world she had created. She owned a RV park for snow birds and year-round residents, near Brownsville, Texas. She had made a home there for herself and menagerie animals and special friends. Goats, cats, dogs, prize chickens and beautiful flowers were the palette for the incredible colors of her life. She loved the outdoors in all its splendor... the smells, the wind, the sight, the sounds, the sun, the peacefulness and the closeness she felt with God when it all surrounded her. She felt the enormity of all that she had been given. It was simple yet powerful all at the same time.
Barbie always beat to the sound of a different drum. She was an enigma. Simple and powerful. Life of the party. Trickster. Always smiling. Soft and caring, and so wonderfully crazy. She made us laugh and sometimes cry, because we missed her so much. But she loved her family excruciatingly so, even and especially from afar. Somehow, she needed her own space. We don’t know why... but she did. We accepted it. We had to but it did not diminish her legacy or importance to all who knew and loved her.
She was simply, Barbara Ann, one of the strongest, most memorable and amazing women, we have ever met! No mountain to high, no goal to impossible, when she set her mind to it. What a powerhouse and yet such a homebody. Her snap was strong. Tom and Thelma O’Meara, her parents were hard workers too. Her love of cooking started at her mother’s knee. They both loved sharing the special talent and treats to all who entered their homes. Popo was tough and ornery and so was she!! Being the third child gave her an advantage. Older brother Jerry Jo and older sister Mary Jane helped her show her the way. And she loved being with the “littles”, sisters Nancy Bell, brother, Russell Tom and “baby doll” Danny Kelly.
After graduating from Bishop Hogan High School, she worked as a dental assistant and that is when she met and married her “Stig”. Harold Stigler a prominent dentist here in Kansas City. They hit it off and shared their gifts with their families and friends, so much laughter and joy!! Barb singing, while Stig played the piano. Hosting the best times whether it was in their home in Red Bridge, on the farm in Belton, or at the lake in Eufaula. Together they were on an amazing gift to all. They so wanted a child together and were blessed with their Lori Ann. Curly blond hair, blue-eyed and beautiful and also sweet beyond measure. And then again later, little sister Angela Marie came to them to love and to hold. They were a team working together in Brookside at the Morning Side office. The opening a small office in Belton, Missouri. After their short-lived retirement in Florida, they started a new practice in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Sadly, Harold passed away in Oklahoma. Barb did, remarry Hank Tozer and this is when Barb retired to Texas, Hank passed too. But of course, the indefatigable “Dolly” just kept going!!
We will all miss her legacy and her everything! Especially her daughter Lori Ann, her husband Scott. Their children Drew and Haley. Drew’s three son’s Mason, Koen and Jaxen. Also, her other daughter Angela Marie, along with all the siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, and grand nephews, in laws, and of course all of her dear friends, who’s lives she touched. All of us who she made an incredible print on our hearts.
Pray for us sweet girl!
