Cecil W Mingee

Mr. Mingee was born on July 23, 1936 in Natchez to Florence Esther Tracy Mingee and James Clyde Mingee, Sr. He attended Kingston School and was a 1954 graduate of Natchez High School.

He played professional baseball for two years with the New York Yankees organization. He married Alice Janette Lunsford on June 1, 1957 in Natchez, and was the proud father of David Wayne, Shari Lynn, and Stan Alan.

He was a member of Kingston Methodist Church, Lovely Lane Methodist Church, a charter member of First Evangelical Methodist Church of Natchez, and a member of Free Methodist Church of Rockwall, Texas. He also served as a volunteer for Uplift Ministries in Colorado during three mission trips. He was a man of Christian faith, who loved the Lord and his family.

Mr. Mingee was a longtime employee of International Paper Company Natchez Mill where he retired after 40 years of service. Wayne and Janette traveled throughout the United States visiting 49 states and all of the Canadian provinces in their motorhome, and as members of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Association putting more than 150,000 miles on three motorcycles. Wayne served as a volunteer fireman for the Fawnwood Volunteer Fire Department in Lake Village, Arkansas for five years.

In retirement, Wayne and Janette settled at the Fun and Sun RV Resort in San Benito, Texas where he made many friends and enjoyed the activities of the park. He was an avid baseball fan, Ole Miss football fan, golfer, and shuffleboard enthusiast. He was the 2017 National Shuffleboard Champion. In 2025, Wayne became a licensed preacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Bennie C. Graves; brothers, Eugene, Jim, Bob, and Charlie Mingee; sister, Sue Avis Graves Thomas; sons David Wayne Mingee and Stan Alan Mingee; daughter-in-law, Wanda Parker Mingee; and grandsons, Jesse Burlison and Matthew Mingee.

Survivors include his wife, Janette Mingee of San Benito, TX;

daughter, Shari Mingee Burlison and husband, Keith of Minot, ND; grandchildren, Joshua Burlison and wife Erika; Marcus Mingee and wife, Tanna; and Walter Wayne “Chip” Mingee and wife, Dianna; daughter-in-law, Leann Mingee; great grandchildren: Isaiah, Ariana and Daniel Burlison, Elijah Mingee, Lillian Grace Mingee and Alex Slade and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
