With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Climaco Gonzales on January 18th, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen. He was born July 26th, 1944 to Baltazar and Marcella Gonzales in Winslow, AZ.
A graduate of St. Mary’s High School and doubling as a bottle boy at Smitty’s, Climaco demonstrated his willingness to go above and beyond to provide for himself and his family. Working his way up, he became district manager with 25 years of service under his belt. The time spent in the grocery industry began what was to become a lifetime career of success.
Climaco exemplified the qualities that we should all strive to have: virtuousness, faith, dedication, and above all, loyalty to his family. He strived to provide a strong dose of happiness in every life he touched. His family extended beyond just his beloved wife of 56 years, five children, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; he grew to call many in his life family due to his undoubtable selflessness.
Following his success in various retail and grocery stores, Climaco, determined for a place to call his own, founded El Centro Foods in La Feria, TX. This store became his lifeblood for the remainder of his life.
Climaco is survived by his wife (Mary Gonzales); sister (Mary Enriquez); brother (Bernie Gonzales); brother (Freddie Gonzales), and preceded in death by his brother (Jose Gonzales).
