David William Metzger, Jr. “Smokey”, 51 has passed way after a brief illness on June 16, 2016 in Harlingen, Texas.
Dave was born,on November 18, 1964 in Weslaco, TX. to David and Bernice Metzger, Sr. as the youngest of three children.
Upon graduation in 1983 from Harlingen High School, Dave bought his first Peterbilt truck and spent 7 years doing long distance trucking. In 1991, Dave started his distinguished career with the Harlingen Fire Department. He retired after 23 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant.
After retirement, Dave went to work with Siddons-Martin Emergency Group as a full time road service technician. This combined his dedication to the fire service with his passion for mechanics.
Dave is survived by his wife Pamela, daughter Ronnie Kamlowsky, son Maxwell Metzger, and adopted grandson Ethan Shields.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church Harlingen on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:00pm.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Crematory, a Dignity memorial provider.
