Galen Franklin Watkins passed to his Father's kingdom on February 5, 2023. Frank was born to Galen H. and Doris Steed Watkins on July 22, 1944 in Sacramento, CA. He graduated from Elk Grove High School.
During his life, Frank had many trades including owning a sewing machine repair business, traveling salesman, truck driver, and campground host. He was the epitome of "Jack of all trades, master of none; but often times better than a master of one." He could fix just about anything.
He loved to fish, read, tinker, and travel. After retirement he and his wife, Sandy, spent years traveling across the US, Mexico, and cruising. He was passionate about politics and religion but knew that change started with him. He could be found volunteering through his church and within his community. Frank was a man people couldn't help but like and was quick to help anyone in need; be it friend or stranger.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lee; daughter Ruthann Louise (Michael) Van Buren; son, George Edwin Rogers, Jr (Bonita Kay); daughter Linda Lee (James Troy) Pheasant; daughter, Lisa Lynn (Scott Allen) Cline; son, Glenn Eugene Watkins (Robert Bauereiss); and daughter Mary Abigail (John David) Newton. He will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren: Ashley, Michael, Rachel, Amanda, Cassandra, Jessica, Lisa, Jordan Dustin, Jessica, Meagan, Colleen, Mitchel, Taylor, Payton, Leeann, and J.D; his 10 great grandchildren, and his loving sister Sylvia (Keith) Roberts.
Frank is proceeded in death by his first wife, Audrey Ann Secor; son, Raymond Andrew; sister, Julia-Ann McAllister; brother, Thomas; and his parents, Galen and Doris.
He will be remembered at Island Baptist Church on Saturday, February 25th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Frank's name.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
