

Guadalupe M. Luna of La Feria, TX, returned to his heavenly home on August 1, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on December 31, 1932, in Progreso, Texas, to Ventura Rangel Luna and Estefana Muños Luna, “Lupe” lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to his family. Through his kindness, resilience, and generous spirit, he built a meaningful life and left a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Maria Luna Flores; and brothers Francisco M. Luna and Raul M. Luna.
Lupe leaves behind a loving family to celebrate him forever. This family includes his wife of 62 years, Lidia Luna of La Feria, TX; their daughter, Virginia Luna Harwell and her husband, Michael W. Harwell, of La Feria, TX; and their son, Guadalupe Luna Jr., and wife, Irma Luna, of Harlingen, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christina A. Trejo, Zachary J. Harwell, and Abigail Luna, and his great-grandson, Jesus C. Trejo Jr.
Lupe was known for his generous heart, always helping family, friends, and strangers. He was raised on the “Calle de Cinco Casas” in Progreso, Texas, where he became lifelong friends with renowned conjunto musician Rubén Vela. As a teenager, he enjoyed swimming races across the Rio Grande river with his friends.
He spent his adult life loving the Cowboys football team and had a faithful 32-year career as a salesman, and supervisor of Frito-Lay in Rio Grande Valley without ever calling in sick. He was able to achieve this enormous accomplishment through his unwavering trust in God. This trust is highlighted in the scripture: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
